The strap is adjustable with a solid brass buckle and measures 95cm (37”) at shortest/120cm (47”) at longest.

Materials

All the leather we use is a by-product of the European food industry and comes from Italian or Belgian tanneries. We use vegetable tanned leather which is preserved with botanical extracts from Mimosa, Québracho and Chestnut barks. Vegetable tanning is a slower, kinder means of production that has less impact on the environment, and results in a stronger leather where the fibres of the original skin are preserved.

Pretty good!

This was a Christmas present from my husband. Today I found time to make it (thank you Eunice). I'm pleased I have made it and I like it. The leather and colour is lovely and the service/ordering was great. There is a but though....There are not enough rivets provided and when to use the 2 larger ones was not clear enough. I knew I had to hit them robustly but the 2nd and 3rd I put in popped off when weaving in the sides. This meant I only just had enough. The instructions say to use a large rivet on step 5, but it doesn't tell you you need the 2nd large rivet for the last rivet (step 11). And you really need it there as the leather is thick and also needs to hold the drawstring closing leather. I needed my husbands help as we both really struggled to push the rivet through the holes on this last step. Now feel a bit nervous to use it with my valuables in it, in case it pops open when out as another review has said it did for her. Perhaps some spare rivets could be sent to me just in case please? I hope my comments help others when making theirs. Overall happy with my new bag. Thank you

I do agree that perhaps the instructions underestimate how hard you need to hammer the rivets in - I'm going to amend them to highlight this and when the longer rivets are needed. Your comments are so helpful for myself and others considering this bag. Leatherwork can be hard work! Of course I can send you some spare rivets - I shall pop some in the post for you. When you hammer them, just make sure they are absolutely snug to the leather - you can test the strength by trying to pull the leather apart. Thank you again and I hope you will feel confident to use your bag, I have been using mine for years and it's still going strong!

Best bag ever!

I am an avid sewer, and have sewn a couple of bags in my time (only one was very good...). When I saw this kit I was intrigued. I needed a good all-round bag that I could take to work as well as just round about, so I could stop using my giant backpack. This bag is PERFECT! It is suprisingly large and holds everything I want it to, I even clip a fold-up shopping bag to the interior drawstring. The instructions are great, the leather is beautiful, I could just go on and on. The only thing I will say is that the instructions underestimate ho hard you need to whack the rivets, so i had a couple pop out the first time I used the bag though. That is completely my fault, and it was a very easy fix. 15/10, would recommend!
