Poor quality handles or PU leather will bring the look of a carefully made bag right down. These won't.

These leather bag handles for bag making are cut from full grain Italian vegetable tanned leather — pre-cut, pre-holed, and ready to attach to any bag you're making, or any bag that's earned better handles than the ones it came with.

What's in the pack

  • 2 x full grain leather handles, 80cm x 2cm each
  • Brass hardware: hammer-in rivets or screw-in Chicago screws
  • Leather washers for strength and load distribution
  • Pre-punched rivet holes — ready to attach straight away
  • Eight colours: Dark Tan, Natural, Black, Dark Brown, Light Tan, Blue, Burgundy, Yellow
How do I attach straps to my bag?
For the hammer in rivet fixture you will need

- a rivet setting tool to fix the rivets in place with a hammer or mallet. (the rivet tool should have a diameter of 8mm)

- a leather hole punch tool (approximately 4mm diameter tool) to create the holes in your bag to fit the rivets through.

For the screw in Chicago screws you will need

- a flat headed screw driver

- a leather hole punch tool (approximately 5mm diameter tool) to create the holes in your bag to fit the rivets through.

Measurements

The handles each measure 2cm wide by 80cm long and the leather is approximately 3.5mm thick (0.4mm tolerance either way).

If you would like specific measurements please get in touch.

The Leather

Italian vegetable tanned full grain leather from Tuscany - 3 to 4mm thick. Full grain means the top layer of the hide — tightest grain, strongest fibres, longest lasting. Vegetable tanning takes longer and costs more than chrome tanning, but the result is a leather that genuinely ages: the colour deepens, a patina builds, and the more you use it the better it looks. No coating, no correction. Just the actual leather — and the only handles worth putting on a bag you've spent time making.
